A viable Eye banking system that is able to meet local needs through locally donated corneas. It will be a tremendous asset in eliminating preventable corneal blindness.
Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho talked about Prevention of Blindness program and efforts by the government for fight against blindness. She pledged to create awareness for community corneal donation and herself pledged to donate her corneas. She requested parliamentarians and legislators to voluntarily donate their corneas after death.
Dr Akhtar Jamal Khan shared his life long experience of voluntary prevention and cure of blindness mission and eye banking history in Pakistan.
