Oral cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and the second most common cancer in women in Pakistan. The increasing consumption of pan, gutka, and chalia has led to a surge in oral cancer cases, making early diagnosis and treatment essential.
Overall, the free Oral Cancer Surgery Unit is a beacon of hope for many individuals suffering from oral cancer, offering them access to critical treatment that might otherwise be out of reach.
In March 2023, PEBS Hospital inaugurated Karachi’s first entirly Free Oral
Cancer Surgery Unit, that any NGO that caters to entire sindh and
baluchistan. A groundbreaking step in expanding access to specialized
cancer care.
Established through the generous contribution of Mr. Islam Salim, a devoted
patron of PEBS Hospital, the unit reflects a strong commitment to saving lives
and advancing healthcare equity.

Since its launch, the unit has successfully performed over 350 life-saving oral cancer surgeries at no cost, offering critical treatment to patients who would otherwise be unable to afford it.

Surgical Interventions:
Surgery continues to be the primary and most effective treatment for
oral cancer, particularly when the disease is detected at an early
stage. At PEBS Hospital, our team of highly skilled surgeons specializes in
both curative surgeries aimed at completely removing cancerous
tumors and reconstructive surgeries, which restore appearance and
functionality after tumor removal.
These procedures are performed in our state of the art operation
theatre, equipped with advanced surgical technology to ensure safety,
precision, and efficiency. The surgical approach is carefully planned to minimize damage to surrounding healthy tissues, helping patients retain facial aesthetics along with vital functions such as speech, chewing, and swallowing.
